BibleGuessr Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. That person should review these Terms with you and is responsible for your use of the Service.

You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

2. The Service

BibleGuessr is a Bible-reference guessing game. It may include daily challenges, adventure and marathon modes, scores, streaks, journals, profiles, leaderboards, notifications, subscriptions, links to third-party Bible resources, and other features.

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features. We will try to give reasonable notice when a material change would significantly reduce a paid feature, but we cannot guarantee that every feature will always be available. The Service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical failures, store restrictions, or circumstances outside our control.

BibleGuessr scores, ranks, streaks, achievements, and other virtual results are for entertainment only. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are not gambling or prizes.

3. Accounts

An account is required to save progress and participate in leaderboards. You agree to:

• provide accurate account information;
• keep your sign-in credentials secure;
• choose a username and, where applicable, provide or connect a profile photo that you have the right to use;
• promptly notify us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission; and
• accept responsibility for activity performed through your account, except where caused by our failure to use reasonable safeguards.

You may sign in using email and password or a supported third-party sign-in provider, including Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple where available. Sign in with Apple lets you use an Apple private relay email address if you choose Hide My Email. Your use of a third-party sign-in provider is also governed by that provider's terms.

Do not share an account in a way that interferes with fair gameplay or attempts to bypass subscription access.

4. Public Profiles and Leaderboards

Your username, profile photo, and certain gameplay results may appear to other players on leaderboards. If you register with Google Sign-In, BibleGuessr automatically uses the profile image supplied by Google as your initial BibleGuessr avatar. Public results may include scores, ranks, Bible-coverage totals, perfect-guess totals, or marathon records. Do not use or connect a username or photo that reveals information you do not want others to see.

We may remove or reset usernames, photos, scores, streaks, records, or leaderboard entries that violate these Terms, result from abuse or technical errors, or are reasonably necessary to preserve the integrity of the Service.

5. Your Content

You retain any rights you have in content you submit, such as a username, profile photo, support message, or feedback (Your Content). You grant Alongside Studios Inc. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, display, and otherwise use Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and that it does not violate any law or another person's rights. You may withdraw this licence for profile content by removing the content where the Service allows or by requesting account deletion, subject to reasonable backup, legal, security, and record-keeping requirements.

If you voluntarily send ideas or product feedback, we may use them without restriction or compensation to you. This does not transfer ownership of your separate creative work to us.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not:

• use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, or harmful activity;
• impersonate another person or use a misleading, infringing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate username or image;
• cheat, automate gameplay, manipulate scores or leaderboards, exploit bugs, or misrepresent game results;
• access another person's account or attempt to obtain passwords, tokens, or other credentials;
• probe, scan, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or bypass the Service or its security, access, or subscription controls, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• scrape, copy, or systematically extract Service content or player information;
• upload malicious code or interfere with another person's use of the Service; or
• use the Service or its content to build or train a competing product without our written permission.

We may investigate suspected violations and take reasonable steps to protect players, the Service, and third parties.

7. Subscriptions and Purchases

Some features require a paid subscription. The price, billing period, included access, and any trial terms are shown before purchase. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another store through which the Service is offered (the App Store Provider), not directly by Alongside Studios Inc..

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel them through your App Store Provider before the renewal deadline shown by that provider. Deleting the app or your BibleGuessr account does not automatically cancel a subscription. You can manage or cancel a subscription through your store account or BibleGuessr's subscription-management screen.

The App Store Provider controls billing, payment methods, renewal charges, taxes, cancellations, and refunds. Except where required by law, refunds are available only under the App Store Provider's policies. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

If a payment fails, is reversed, or a subscription expires or is cancelled, paid access may end. We may change subscription prices or features prospectively, with notice and any consent required by the App Store Provider or applicable law.

8. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service relies on or links to third parties, including app stores, authentication providers, hosting providers, subscription-management services, product-analytics providers, push-notification services, feedback forms, and Bible websites. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

In versions where analytics is enabled, we use PostHog to understand and improve onboarding, gameplay, journal use, and subscription flows. Analytics may be linked to your BibleGuessr account and username. Our Privacy Policy explains the information involved, its uses, and your privacy choices and deletion options.

Links to third-party resources, including YouVersion, are provided for convenience. We do not control or endorse all content, availability, security, or practices of third-party services and are not responsible for them. Bible translations and other third-party content remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate licence terms.

If you downloaded BibleGuessr through an App Store Provider, its applicable usage rules and account terms also apply. If these Terms conflict with mandatory App Store Provider terms, those mandatory terms control to the extent of the conflict.

Apple App Store Users: If you download BibleGuessr through Apple’s App Store, your use of the iOS application is also subject to Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (EULA). If there is a conflict between these Terms and any mandatory terms imposed by Apple, those mandatory terms will control to the extent of the conflict.

9. Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, artwork, branding, game mechanics as expressed in the Service, and original text, is owned by or licensed to Alongside Studios Inc. and is protected by intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Service on devices you own or control for your personal, non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.

BibleGuessr, its logos, and associated branding may not be used without our prior written permission. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.

10. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account in the app, open Settings → Account Settings → Delete account and follow the confirmation prompts. Before entering the main app, you can also open Account Settings using the Account button on the reviews screen before the subscription screen. You confirm using your username, or DELETE if you have not chosen one. Accounts connected to Apple may require Apple authentication again to revoke BibleGuessr's sign-in authorization. If you cannot access these controls, contact [email protected].

Successful account deletion permanently removes your account and saved game data from our active account systems. Retention of backups, analytics, subscription records, and other information, and requests to delete that information, are explained in our Privacy Policy. The in-app action does not automatically erase historical PostHog or RevenueCat records.

Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription or automatically issue a refund. Subscription cancellation is separate and must be completed through your App Store Provider. You can open Manage Subscription from the deletion prompt. Billing may continue unless you cancel through the store.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, failed to pay for paid access, or used the Service in a way that harms other players or the Service. Where appropriate, we will try to provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination—including intellectual-property, disclaimer, liability, and dispute provisions—will survive.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every device, or that scripture data, scores, rankings, or other content will always be complete or accurate.

The Service is an entertainment and learning game. It is not professional, legal, medical, financial, pastoral, or theological advice.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alongside Studios Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities, arising from or related to the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) CAD $50.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability arising from fraud, wilful misconduct, or other matters where exclusion is prohibited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of this section may not apply to you.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or the law. We will post the updated Terms and revise the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practicable or legally required.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not accept an update, you must stop using the Service.

14. General Terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and Alongside Studios Inc. regarding the Service, except for any additional terms presented for a specific feature or purchase.

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, merger, financing, or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable law.

These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the relationship between you and Alongside Studios Inc., without overriding any mandatory consumer protections available where you live. Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
